Copper City December 11, 2015
Gwen Kuivinen, 93, a resident of Copper City and current resident of Our Lady of Mercy Health and Rehab in Hubbell passed away on Friday morning December 11, 2015 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.
She was born on December 17, 1921 in Mohawk a daughter of the late Ignace and Clara (Voelker) Zigman.
Gwen attended Calumet High School and during her senior year she moved to Detroit where she graduated in 1940 from Thomas M. Coolie High School in Detroit.
On February 22, 1941 she was married to Adolph Kuivinen and he preceded her in death on September 2, 2001.
Gwen was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ahmeek and also a member of the church Altar Society.
Preceding her in death was her husband, brothers Walter and David Zigman and a daughter Rita Bykkonen.

Daughter: Linda Beckner of Lac La Belle
Two Grandchildren: Cindee (Tom) Molnar, Castle Rock, CO and David Bykkonen of Copper City, MI.
Three Great grandchildren: Kevin (Melanie) Bykkonen, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, Elizabeth (Beth Molnar) (Joshua) Robertson, Bakersfield, CA and Holly Martin, Burt, MI;
Three great-great-grandchildren - Zena and Lyla Martin and Rachel Robertson;
Sister: Ruth (Bob) Supanich of Copper City
Brother: Paul Zigman of Garden City, MI
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Monday December 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Fr. Abraham Mupparathara to officiate.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Monday from 10-11:00 AM
Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek.
