Melanie Harmala, 54, a resident of Calumet passed away at her home on Monday October 24, 2022.
She was born on August 17, 1968 in Laurium a daughter to Wesley and Cheryl (Anderson) Kangas.
She graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1986 and later attended Michigan Technological University.
On June 26, 1993 she was united in marriage to Norman Harmala.
Melanie worked as a teacher and was currently employed at Chassell School.
Preceding her in death was an infant sister Darlene, her father Wesley Kangas and father in law Edwin Harmala.
She was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet.
Surviving are: Her husband Norman
Children: Ruth of Calumet, Alina (Drew) Scheck of Watertown, MN, Heidi of Morgantown, WV, and Eli, Colin, Riita, Isaac, Nora, Claire, Eva and Annette all of Calumet.

Funeral services will be held on Friday October 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet with Pastor Mark Halonen to officiate.
Visitation will be held on Thursday at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet from 4-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family with the arrangements.
