Obituary for Rosalie Delores Marson

Rosalie (Bacher) Marson, age 97, a lifelong resident of Laurium, Michigan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. After a long and rewarding life, she passed away peacefully on Saturday August 6 at Omega House in Houghton surrounded by her family.
Rosalie was born on March 6, 1925, in Raymbaultown to the late John and Anna (Elenich) Bacher. She attended Calumet High School and left during WWII to work in Chicago. On June 18th, 1949 she married the love of her life, Arthur Oliver Marson, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Calumet. The couple shared a wonderful life together until Arthur passed away in 1976. In their early years, they operated Crystal Ice Company, delivering block ice to many households in the Copper Country. Rosalie later worked for her sister-in-law at Miller’s Recreation until purchasing Pat’s Market in Laurium in 1969. She operated the store for over 30 years until her retirement in 2001. Working in the store she became friends with many of her neighbors.
Rosalie was a loving and caring person. In her early years she was an avid bowler, bringing home many trophies annually. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent endless time playing with them. She enjoyed relaxing at the camp in Little Betsy and visiting with her son and daughter-in-law in Wisconsin.
Rosalie was a devout Catholic who loved praying the rosary. She was a lifetime member of St. Joseph and then St. Paul the Apostle Church.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, by her parents, and by her five siblings: Joseph and John Bacher of Chicago, Mary Marshall also of Chicago, and Ann Kraich and Frances Bell both of Detroit.
Her survivors include her sons, Arthur Angelo (Jo Ann) Marson of La Crosse, Wisconsin and Jon (Betty) Marson of Laurium.
She is further survived by four grandchildren: J. P. Marson, Jaclyn (Greg) Neumann, Erica (Justin) Brandau and Nicholas Marson, and five great grandchildren; Cooper and Graham Neumann, and Aiden, Mason and Ashlynn Brandau. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with several close friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 13 at 11:00 am in the St. Paul the Apostle Church on 8th Street in Calumet with Father Gracious Pullimootil to officiate. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
