Obituary for Albert Koskela

Albert A. Koskela, 81, a resident of Traprock Valley passed away on Sunday morning April 24, 2022 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.
He was born on April 28, 1940 in Traprock Valley a son of the late Albert A. and Elizabeth (Rengo) Koskela.
Albert graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1958.
On August 26, 1961 he was united in marriage to Karen Margaret Niemi in Southfield, MI.
After their marriage they resided in Detroit where he worked for Ford Motor. Co. In 1967 they moved to Traprock Valley and Albert started Valley Plumbing and Heating and Valley Well Drilling. After he sold the company he worked at Hitch Engineering until his retirement.
He was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet. Albert also served on the Lake Linden Hubbell Board of Education and the Copper Country Intermediate School District Board of Education. He was currently a Commissioner on the Houghton County Board of Commissioners.
Preceding him in death were his sisters: Arlene (Harold) Naasko, Cynthia (Daniel) Miller and Betty (Leigh) Zeitz and Brother in law: Frank Honkala.

Sisters: Shirley Honkala, Beegu (James) Keranen, Pearl (Ed) Loukus and Enid (Paul) Pennala
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 26, 2022 at 7:00 PM at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet with Pastor Mark Halonen to officiate.
Visitation will be from 2-7 PM at the church on Tuesday.
Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Lake Linden.
The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family with the arrangements.
