Obituary for Jessie Mathes (Anagick)
Jessie Mathes, 82 of Calumet Michigan passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium, MI. Jessie was born on November 30, 1932 to Marie (Soxie) and Lincoln Anagick, in Unalakleet Alaska.
Jessie met her husband who was stationed at the Air Force base in Unalakleet and then married Arthur F. Mathes, and raised three children together. Jessie and her family spent many years traveling and living on different bases through the Air Force. Jessie had many skills, learning to do many things, including being a nurses aid in her village, learning stenography, and data entry. Jessie hobbies included knitting and crocheting, and beading. Jessie loved being a mother and grandmother.
Jessie is survived by her husband, Arthur F. Mathes and her three children, Lincoln Mathes, Thurza Mathes and Patricia Mathes-Rich and her son in law, Dennis Rich, as well as her grandchildren, Jessica Rich, Meghan Rich, Jared Rich, Miranda Rich and Hannah Reilly and her sister Helga (Albert) Lindstrom and her brother in-law Richard (Greta) Mathes and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. Jessie is preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Lincoln Anagick, and her mother-in-law, Thurza I. Mathes, and her brothers, Naaman Soxie and Max Anagick.
A memorial service will be held for Jessie Mathes on Friday February 18, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Siskiwit Reception Hall in Calumet, MI. A light luncheon will follow the service until 5:00 pm.
