Obituary for Linda S Roe

Linda Susannah Roe, age 77, of Calumet, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 6th, 2022 at Gardenview Assisted living Center Calumet MI.

She was born on May 7, 1944 to the late Adam D and Daria (Lukachick) Monik in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She later moved with her parents to Lansing, Illinois where she graduated high school.

She was raised a member of the Russian Orthodox Catholic Church and loved to sing in the choir.



She has spent her life dedicated to the field of nursing.

A graduate of Mount Sinai School of Nursing (later changed to I.J. Goldberg School of Nursing) with a diploma in nursing in 1976.

College of St. Francis, Joliet, Illinois, Bachelor of Science Degree, Professional Arts (Dean’s list) in 1979.

George Williams College, Downers Grove, Illinois, Master of Science Degree in Administration and Organizational Behavior, 1983.

Certified Nurse Administrator, Advanced American Nurses Association, 1984.



Before retiring, she was a concerned patient advocate and continually considered their significance which preserved a healthy perspective towards all aspects of her career in the health care industry.

She spent her career in many capacities such as: Staff Nurse, Head Nurse Intensive and Coronary Care Unit, instructor of Staff Development, Director of Nursing Service, and Assistant Administrator most recently at Portage View Hospital, Hancock Michigan. She was an active member of Nursing Associations and Executive wherever employed which Included: Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center, Chicago, Ill.; Englewood Hospital, Chicago, Ill,; Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, Ill,; and Portage View Hospital, Hancock Michigan.

She is survived by her brother Gregory (Karen) Monik; brother-in-law Allan Sommer and she is an aunt, great aunt, and great great aunt to 34 nieces and nephews who she truly loved and celebrated all of her life.

A special thank you, she would have wanted, is to her next-door neighbors Edith and Bill, and many wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father and her sister Elizabeth Sommer.

A future memorial celebration will be held.
