Margaret “June” Peterson, 80, a resident of Copper City passed away on Saturday December 11, 2021 at the Omega House in Houghton.
She was born on June 5, 1941 in her home at Copper City to William and Cecelia (O’Neill) Rost. She attended the local schools and graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1960.
She was united in marriage to Gordon Peterson on January 27, 1962 in Calumet.
June loved to sew and read. She also loved watching and spending time with her many animals. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a very good handy worker, she loved gardening, cooking and baking.
She was also the family historian.
She is preceded in death by her parents William and Cecelia Rost, her husband Gordon, Son Nick, 3 Sisters, and 2 brother in laws.
She is survived by her children:
Marie (Larry) Butala of Marquette
Steve (Sherry) Peterson of Copper City
Her grandchildren: Timmy (Lisa), Benji (Emilee), Jimmy (Brianna), Jake, Jared, Jake (Nikki), Serena (Trenton), Bill (Shelby), Steven, Breanna (Tristan), Amelia, and Penny.
Her great grandchildren: Max, Eva, Lexi, Hank, Zoey, Thomas, Raymond, Ace, Anistyn, Noah, and Dominick.
Her sister: Kathy (Herb) Leopold of Hancock
Her dog: Pippin
Special friend: Maria Redd
Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace on Wednesday December 15, 2021 at 11:00 am with Father Gracious Pulimoottil to officiate.
Burial will take place in the spring in Calvary Cemetery.
