Obituary for David Pintar

David Pintar, 68, a resident of Copper City passed away on Tuesday November 16, 2021 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital. He was born on June 25, 1953 in Chicago to August and Barbara (Bramila) Pintar. Dave loved his family and looked out for all of us. He was a much loved brother, uncle, cousin and friend and will be dearly missed. We will miss his wonderful sense of humor and great story telling.

Dave attended schools in Chicago and the Calumet area and went on to study Automotive Service at the NMU Jacobetti Center because of his love of working on cars. In the mid-70’s he ventured to Alaska and worked seasonally for the State Highway Department out of Valdez for 10 years with a survey crew. He then worked for Coleman Engineering and U.P. Engineering in this area. Later he went on to study Building Trades at Gogebic Community College, which proved to be a wonderful blessing to family and friends. Then, before retirement, he did a stint of over-the-road truck driving out of North Dakota.

Dave loved being outdoors whether it was hiking, riding around on his three-wheeler, or winding up his nieces and nephews any time he got a chance. He had a passion for rockhounding, especially for copper with his metal detector, and he loved woodworking. Dave also had a love for automobiles and working on cars—one of his many talents he shared with others. He had an inquisitive mind and never stopped learning and sharing what he knew proving to be a wealth of wisdom for us all. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, August and Barbara Pintar and his sister Margaret Pintar. He is survived by his brothers and sisters including Sharon (Jon) Grieger of Mohawk, Theresa Reilly of Ashland, WI, August Pintar Jr. of Calumet, Mary (Mark) Wysock of Munster, IN, Jacob Pintar of Calumet, Robert Pintar of Calumet, and Steve (Stephanie) Pintar of Copper City as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

The family will be having a private burial and service at this time and a celebration of life next summer.
