Carl W. Laitila, 84, a resident of South Range passed away on Saturday January 16, 2021.
He was born on August 23, 1936 in Baltic a son of the late Waino and Lydia (Lambert) Laitila.
Carl graduated from Houghton High School and later attended Suomi College and received his Masters Degree in Education from Northern Michigan University.
On July 16, 1960 he was united in marriage to Janet McLean and she preceded him in death in 2012.
He was employed as a teacher for West Iron County School and Southgate School in lower Michigan. He also worked as a pipe fitter and for the State of Michigan.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Son Jeffrey and a brother Joseph.
Surviving are: Daughter Sandra (Milton) Pyykkonen of Painesdale
Son : Mark Laitila of South Range
13 Grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Private family graveside services will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range.
The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family with the arrangements.
