She was born on June 21, 1920 in Calumet to Harrison and Lucille (Schwenn) Hodges. She attended the local schools, and graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1937. Following high school, Jean began working at Newberrys at the age of 16, she worked there until she met Wendell Richards. They were united in marriage on April 24, 1943, he preceded her in death in December of 1971. She then became a homemaker while her kids were growing up, and in 1972, she started working at Public Chevrolet, until retiring in 1982. In 1977 Jean married John “Jack” Dudley whom preceded her in death in February of 2017.

Jean loved knitting and playing cards with her family, she was the master of pinnacle! She also enjoyed cooking and sewing. Jean was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and a Green Bay Packers Fan! Often times during the Tigers games, Jean would be sitting in her chair listening to the game and filling in her own box score. She could tell you any statistic about any of the players!
