Obituary for Elaine Monette

Elaine A. Monette, 89, a longtime resident of Hubbell and a current resident of Rustic Meadows in Lake Linden passed away ‪on Sunday afternoon‬ March 8, 2020 at her home.
She was born on June 12, 1930 in Tamarack a daughter of the late Arthur and Alvina (LaFave) Mongeau. She attended Dollar Bay High School.
On June 19, 1948 she was united in marriage to Lawrence ”Lornie” Monette and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2009.
Elaine worked at Columbia Laundry and at the Calumet Public Hospital as a nurse’s aide.
Elaine’s first love was always her family. As time went on and the family grew, that love was passed onto her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her second love was feeding them and anyone who came to their house could have her amazing cooking brought to them. Elaine’s homemade ravioli, breads, and pasties were unsurpassed. She was an avid hockey fan, supporting the Red Wings through good seasons and bad. At the age of 80 she got to see her first Red Wing game at the Joe. A deck of cards was never out of reach and playing cards with Elaine got serious quickly. She enjoyed reading, especially in her later years. Birthdays and special occasions were always remembered with a card and heartfelt wishes. A devoted mother, dedicated wife, tireless worker, compassionate, and always ready with a smile, Elaine led her family by example.

She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hubbell until its closing and was a current member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden.
