Kitti was born on October 27, 1923 in Detroit, MI to Charles and Anna (Backman) Kitti.
She attended Lincoln High School in Ferndale, MI. She then graduated from Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) in 1944.
On July 4, 1943 she met her soulmate, David (Mac) Frimodig on the dock at Isle Royale National Park, and it was love at first sight.
Mac and Kitti were united in marriage on March 29, 1946, and moved to Copper Harbor, where Mac served as the manager of Fort Wilkins. They raised their two kids, Kaaron and Eric, there for 11 years, making countless memories as a family in the isolated yet wonderful, snowy north. Life then brought them to Marquette until they were able to retire back in the Keweenaw in 1978 where their hearts were at home.
Kitti and Mac were the quintessential soulmates, and together did and experienced everything. They traveled to Finland where they made some amazing memories, and beyond that their best times were spent together in the Keweenaw cross-country skiing, playing tennis, picking berries, playing cards, walking through the woods and just enjoying life together at Lake Medora.
Kitti loved spending time over the years on many special hobbies and interests including rosemaling, rooting for her Spartans, playing scrabble with her daughter Kaaron, cribbage with her son Eric, basket weaving with her daughter-in-law Wanda, summers picking rocks at Fort Wilkins Beach with her four grandkids, fun at Lake Medora with her great grandkids, watching her great niece play basketball for Michigan Tech in the last few years and lunches spent with her ecumenical prayer group. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Kitti was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill, and after almost 50 years of marriage to each other, her dear Mac, who she has now been reunited with.
She is survived by her daughter Kaaron Burkhart, son Eric (Wanda) Frimodig, grandson Justin (Jo) Burkhart, granddaughter Nicole Vallance, granddaughter Mindy (Dan) Krone, grandson Adam (Danielle) Frimodig, great grandkids Amaya, Grady, Noah, Bella, Alice and Lochlan and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her Gardenview family, especially her tablemates, past and present.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet with Pastor Jared Howard.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Monday from 4-7 PM and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
