Obituary for James "Eli" Walfred Frantti

James “Eli” Frantti, 77, a resident of Laurium passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at his home.

He was born on December 29, 1940 in Calumet to Emil and Fanny (Parkkinen) Frantti.

Eli attended Calumet High School and graduated with the Class of 1958.

After high school, Eli enlisted with the United States Army, serving in the Korean War.

Eli was a fan of many sports, but specifically hockey and golf. He coached hockey for the Calumet Hockey Association and for the Lake Linden Hubbell High School. He played hockey for the Detroit Hockey League, and basketball in a men’s league in Detroit as well.

Eli also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Eli worked for the Public Schools of C-L-K, retiring in 2003 after many years of service.

On July 15, 1967 he was united in marriage to Beverly A. Hill in Calumet.

Eli was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Fanny Frantti, his wife, Beverly, his sister, Lorraine, his brothers, Bill and Kirby, and his grandson, Travis Sanderson.

He is survived by:

five sons: Gordie of Kennewick, WA
Bob (Molly) of Livonia
Jeff (Theresa) of Calumet
Kevin (Karen) of New Richmond, WI
David (Nicki) of Ahmeek
11 grandchildren, Philip, Graham, Olivia, Nolan, Brenna, Sara, Clare, Lila, Leah, Ben, Matt
1 brother: Don (Gail) Frantti of Bete Gris
And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 11:00 am with David Taivalkoski to officiate. Friends may call at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and also on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00.
