Obituary for Peter Ovid MacDonald

Peter MacDonald, 68, a resident of Laurium passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.

He was born on February 19, 1950 in Laurium to Ovid and Bernice (Johnston) Macdonald.Peter attended Calumet High School and graduated with the Class of 1968.

After graduation, Peter enlisted with the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era. He was honorably discharged in 1971. He was in the 11th Quarter Master USAEUR as a parachute rigger in Germany.Peter was a jack-of-all-trades, and he used his knowledge to help anyone where they needed it. He enjoyed going out hunting and fishing.

He also enjoyed sitting down and figuring out crossword puzzles. With his knowledge of crosswords, he naturally loved to play scrabble, often having a feud with his family members.In March of 1976, he married Christina Dlubala in Laurium.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ovid and Bernice MacDonald, His sister, Sandra, his brother, Robert, 3 brother-in-laws, Nathan, Gerald, and Carl, and his mother-in-law, Mayme Dlubala.

He is survived by:His wife of 42 years: Christina of Laurium
His children:Anita (Scott Quick) Jauw of Laurium
Marian (James) Thomas of Hancock
Andrew MacDonald of Laurium
6 grandchildren: Annabelle, Alex. Sophie, Lydia, Xavier, and Lauren
His brother: (Lawrence (Kay) MacDonald of Oregon
His sisters: Ruth Mast of Grand Rapids
Jeanne MacDonald of Grand Rapids
Judy Kuivinen of Appleton
And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Burial with military rites will be held at the Lake View Cemetery on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11:00 am.
