Obituary for Hjalmer Arvid Frusti

Hjalmer A. Frusti, 82, a former resident of Hancock, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Gardenview Assisted Living and Memory Care in Calumet.

He was born on November 16, 1934, in Calumet to Emil and Anni (Bagge) Frusti.

Hjalmer attended Calumet High School and graduated with the Class of 1952.

Following high school, Hjalmer enlisted in the United States Army having served in Germany until he was honorably discharged in 1959.

On April 23, 1960, he married Anne Louise Carver (of Ann Arbor) in Detroit, Michigan.

Hjalmer lived in Livonia for 36 years while he worked for the Ford Motor Company. He retired on May 1, 1991. He moved back to Houghton, Michigan, in 2002.

Hjalmer loved building different things, tinkering around the house and yard, and he also loved learning and spending time with new technology.

He most enjoyed visiting and spending time with family and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents: Emil and Anni Frusti; 3 brothers: Paavo John Frusti, Bert Frusti, and Paul Frusti; 1 sister: Bertha Kauppila; 2 sons: Robert and Thomas; and his wife Anne.

He is survived by:
His Daughter: Deborah (David) Latka of Milford, Michigan
Daughter-in-law: Lanese Frusti of Livonia, Michigan
4 grandchildren: Megan, Michael, Cameron, and Keller.
1 great grandchild: Emma
Sister Helen Helenbart of Marshall, Michigan
Sister-in-law Donna Frusti of Laurium, Michigan

And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per Hjalmer’s request, private family services will be held at a future date, and burial will take place at the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
