Obituary for Barbara Jean Marie O'Brien (Dahlgren)

Barbara Jean Marie O’Brien, 84, a lifelong resident of Mohawk entered into eternal life on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.
She was born on August 14, 1932, in Mohawk to Wagner and Helen (Erkkila) Dahlgren.
Barb attended Calumet High School and graduated with the Class of 1950.
She was united in marriage to her best friend, Owen “OB” O’Brien on May 10, 1951 in Lake Linden.
Barb worked at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge for many years as a waitress. She then went to work as a bookkeeper for Superior Crafts for several years, retiring in 1993.
Barb was a very avid golfer and card player. She loved to do the crossword puzzles, suduko puzzles, and the anagrams in the newspaper. She was also made sure that every night she could watch Wheel of Fortune. She was a devout bingo player.
Barb loved to spend time at the beach in the summers. She and her family spent countless hours at the beach in Eagle River and at Great Sand Bay.
Barb was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of the Keweenaw, and a past member of the Clyde Johnson American Legion Post #230 Women’s Auxillary.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents: Wagner and Helen Dahlgren, and her husband: Owen “OB” O’Brien.
She is survived by:
Her sons: Dale (Margo) O’Brien of Calumet
Paul (Suzi) O’Brien of Appleton, Wisconsin
Her Daughter: Mary (Bruce) O’Brien-Blum of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin
Her special grandson: Michael Erlandson of Calumet
Her brothers: John (Jackie) Dahlgren of Mohawk
Tom (Julene) Dahlgren of Mohawk
Her sister: Margaret (Hank) Rantanen of Mohawk
Her beloved dog: Mikki
And numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Per Barb’s request, cremation has taken place, and private family services were held.
Burial will take place at the Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek.
