Raymond “Raj” Gasperich, age 87 a resident of Calumet passed away on Tuesday November 17, 2015 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.
He was born on December 21, 1927 to Frank and Amelia (LaJeunesse) Gasperich in Calumet, Michigan.
He attended Calumet High School graduating with the Class of 1945.
Raj was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On March 7, 1951 Raj married Sharon Berg in Calumet, who preceded him in death on March 14, 2012.
Raj worked as a mechanic at Public Chevrolet in Calumet for 50 years.
He loved to hunt and fish, never missing the opening day of fishing season at Bond Falls.
He was a lifelong resident of Calumet.
Raj is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Al, Francis, and Joe, Sisters; Emma Swetish, and Marguerite Tognetti.
He is survived by:
Daughter: Rae Lynn (Donald) Sandretto of Ishpeming
Son: Timothy (Ann) Gasperich of Calumet
Brother: Carl “Harve” (Bea) Gasperich of Calumet
Grandchildren Steven, Michael, and Angela (Christopher) Eagling and great grandchildren Jake and Alli Eagling, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Raj’s family would like to thank the staff at Marquette County Medical Care Facility for the wonderful care he received while there.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Lake View Cemetery in the spring. A notice will be announced when the burial will take place.
