Obituary for Raymond Joseph Frazier

Raymond J. Frazier, 81, formerly of Laurium, but for the 6 years a resident of Our Lady of Mercy Nursing & Rehab Facility in Hubbell, MI, died on Saturday April 25.

He was born on September 22, 1933 in Calumet, a son of the late Alice (Bessner) and Raymond Frazier. He attended School in Ripley, MI.

Raymond was born with cerebral palsy but in spite of his physical handicap, in his younger years he remained as busy as his condition would allow. He cut grass and had a couple of snow shoveling jobs in his neighborhood. He enjoyed spending time visiting with friends, playing country music CDs and watching television. For a few years he lived at the Newberry State Hospital, where he worked in the nursery and learned crafts, which improved his manual dexterity. He was a member of the Scared Heart Church, in Calumet.

He was preceded in death by his mother, and brother Donald, and a nephew, Bruce as well as numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Ray is survived by:
His cousin and guardian for many years; Lillian (Paul) Martinac. Another special cousin, who visited him often; Mike (Sharon) Bedore and several other cousins as well.

A funeral service will be held at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home on Wednesday April 29, at 11:00 am, a visitation will also be held at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service, with Father Abraham Mupparathara to officiate.

Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
