Obituary for Rodney Paul Utzman

October 19, 2014 Calumet

Rodney Utzman, 61, a resident of Portland Street in Calumet passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday October 19, 2014.

Rodney was born on August 10, 1953 in Calumet, to his parents Joseph and Agnes (Remillard) Utzman. He graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1971 and later attended Suomi College to study Criminal Justice.

Rodney served as a Military Police officer for the U.S. Navy for 16 years during the Vietnam War. He currently had been working at Calumet Electronics testing circuit boards for the past 17 years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite teams on TV, especially the Green Bay Packers. In the past years he played softball for Luigi's in the local softball league.

Rodney loved spending time with his friends and family, who all loved him dearly. He also enjoyed the company of his four legged son Rosco. He was both a loving and amazing father, and grampa, he always had the ability to fill the room with laughter and it will live on through those who were touched by his sense of humor.

Preceding him in death was his parents, brother Joseph and daughter Mary Ann Utzman.
He is survived by: Daughter Tara of Marquette
Grandchildren: Bayani and Vitale
Niece: Kristen Utzman and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday October 24, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Bob White to officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Copper Country Veterans Association following the funeral at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home on Friday from 10-12:00 PM.
Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
