October 18, 2010 Calumet
Robert Opland, 89, a resident of Calumet passed away at the Portage Health System in Hancock on Monday evening October 18, 2010.
He was born on May 16, 1921 in Duluth, Minnesota a son of the late William and Ingeborg (Kraft) Opland.
Robert graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1940 and then attended the University of Michigan.
After his schooling Robert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving in WW II.
On April 22, 1944 he was married to Barbara Hazelwood at Penn State, they were married for 57 years until her passing on February 21, 2002.
Robert was employed at Burroughs Corp. in Detroit and Plymouth.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Laurium.
Preceding him in death was his wife, parents and a brother Kenny .
Beloved father and grandfather.

David of Webberville, Michigan
1 Daughter: Patricia (Pat) Donlon of Stanwood, Michigan
9 Grandchildren: Jason, Derek, Ashley, Chase, Rachel, Kyle, Carey, Kip & Timothy.
3 Great Grandchildren: Mikayla, Jack, Audrey and Brandon
1 Brother: Bill Opland of Lac La Belle
Numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday October 22, 2002 at 11:00 AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church 146 Tamarack Street in Laurium with the Rev. James Fundum to officiate.
Friends may call in the Erickson-Crowley Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7 PM and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
