Lauren “Whitey” “Pillar” Perkola 79 a resident of Kearsarge passed away at home.

Lauren was born on May 12, 1928 to Mayme and Walter Perkola of Copper City.

He worked for C & H, Superior Crafts, Ordie Winquist and various other jobs.

Lauren married Barbara Kowalski in 1970.

He loved fishing, hunting , picking berries and metal detecting, but his greatest love was Barbara.

Picnics, his kids and grandkids were his other loves of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister Gloria, and sisters Audrey & Bernice,
brothers: Lanny, Larry, Herb and Lowell, a great granddaughter Faith Christine Binder, now in grandpa’s arms.

Lauren was survived by his best friend and wife Barbara

Daughters: Susie (Roger) Gronlund of Calumet
Denise (Marv) Carpenter of Pennsylvania
Faye (Richard) Rule of Calumet
Brenda (Paul) DeMarois of Calumet
Laura (Nate) Rowe of Calumet

Sons: Michael (Kris) Adams of Calumet
Richard Adams of Arizona

Grandkids: Roger (Margie) Gronlund
Nicole (Sean) Binder
Garrett, Trevor, Jordyn and Grace Rowe
Tammy, Tina & Ricky Rule
Celia and Mary DeMarois
Danielle, Sarah, Brian & Lauren Adams
Scott and Michelle Carpenter
Ashley Niemela
Atrayou Siverly

Great Grandkids: Kimmie and Melanie Gronlund
Ausitn Ylitalo

Sister: Gwen (Elmer) Haltunen

Brother: Weldon (Barb) Pirkola

Special neighbor: Vince (Brenda) Niemela

Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His great sense of humor will be greatly missed.


A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday June 20, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Church in Calumet with Fr. Abraham Mupparathara to officiate.

The Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family with the arrangements and friends may leave condolences for the family at www.ericksoncrowley.com

Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek.
