Obituary for Jeremiah Lee Stone

Jeremiah Lee  Stone
Jeremiah "Jerry" Stone passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at his home.

He was born in Alma, Michigan on May 4, 1934 he was the only child of Frank B. and Lois M. (Stacy) Stone of Ithaca, Michigan.

He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1952 and Michigan State University in 1958. He served in the United States Army as an instructor in the Medical Services Corps at San Antonio, Texas.

His career was in public service and business management in the field of personnel and labor relations. He worked in Michigan, Washington, Wisconsin, Virginia, and Washington D.C. He was a lifetime libertarian, he was active in numerous professional and community service organizations.

In June of 1957, he married Sharon Montague of St. Johns, Michigan, she preceded him in death in 1978. In 1980, he married Mary Dunlavey in Wausau, Wisconsin. He is survived by his former wife, Mary, and his children, Jeffrey of Everett, Washington, Stacy (Greg) Coleman of Seattle, Washington, and Jonathan (Jennifer) of Houghton, Michigan and six grandchildren.

Jerry was an avid sailor, walker, and traveler. He visited Kenya while Jon and Jenni were living in Africa. He also made two trips to Russia Far East on a work-exchange program. He had a great love of music, art, and spending time at the family cottage on Crystal Lake. Family and friends describe him as funny, intense, thoughtful, hardworking, open-minded, generous, and a follower of Jesus Christ.

Per his request, his remains were cremated and a marker places on his parents plot at the Ithaca Cemetery. Remembrances and memorials may be sent to World Vision Relief, PO Box 9716, Federal Way, Washington, 98063.
