Obituary for Gordon Earl Frantti

Gordon Frantti, 87, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home with his family by his side on Saturday, December 26, 2015.

Gordon was born on July 28, 1928, in Palmer, Michigan. He was the son of the late Leonard & Alice (Antilla) Frantti. He was a graduate of Ishpeming High School. After high school, he served two years in the United States Navy. He then went to college at Michigan Tech where he received his bachelors and masters degrees.

On March 22, 1952, he was united in marriage to Ruth Mukka.

Gordon received his PhD from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He taught at Michigan Tech for many years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet, Michigan.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; his son Ross Frantti; his granddaughter Aileen (Frantti) Harbridge; and his sisters Dorothy Oie, Helen Daavettila, Mary U’Ren & Janet Frantti.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his sons Bruce of Coos Bay OR, Donald of Las Vegas NV, Michael of Gwinn MI & Kalle (Sue) of Central Lake MI; his daughters Sara (Michael) Halt of Calumet MI & Margaret (Ed) Figueroa of Pleasant Prairie WI; his brother James (Pat) Frantti of Chassell MI; his sister Elaine Frantti of Ishpeming MI; twenty-five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

A funeral service for Gordon will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet with Pastor David Taivalkoski officiating.

There will be a visitation at the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Tuesday from 4-8 PM and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Wednesday.

There will be a spring burial in the Waasa Cemetery.
